So this is what I was aiming for lol
and this is what I have ended up with….I was doing 3 DC (uk) into one stitch, chain 2, skip 1 and then same again, I did this previously and skipped 2 and it wasnt really any better π¦ Was even wondering if it was a puff stitch and have been trying that too lol
Also tried with a row of double crochets before starting the stitch π¦
It will not defeat me lol
Have not the first clue what I have done lol wanted a straight line, was meant to be sample to show pattern for baby blanket….but I didnt frog it I just joined it lol will use it for something
If any of you know what I have done let me know
In the original photo, those look like American DC, not UK DC… I think your problem is you’re only skipping enough chains to account for the extra DCs, but not for the extra chain spaces. Also, you need to start with a single Dc or a half shell if you want a square edge.
Try this (in US terms)
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs count as 1DC) (ch1, skip next 3 chs, 3dc in next ch) repeat across to last 4 chs, ch 1, skip next 3 chs, dc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 3, DC in first ch1 sp, (ch 1, 3dc in next ch sp) repeat across to last ch sp, ch 1, DC in last ch sp.
Repeat Row 2 to desired length.
This should give you 1DC at the end of each row, and 2DC at the beginning of each row, which averages out to half a shell on each end and should give you square edges. If my math is right, you need to start out with a multiple of 3, plus 2 (1 for each end). Let me know how it works! π

I got the multiples of 3 plus 2 right then lol Will give this a go thanks π

Actually I just realized my math was wrong – I forgot to account for the chains that have the actual stitches in them! Should be multiple of 4 (one for sts, 3 for ch sp) plus 1 for the end st, PLUS 3 for the beginning dc (UK tr) So in other words, just a multiple of 4 π
